I attended a marketing conference in Denver with my Dad. I was getting my graduate degree in social work and was not interested in business but I went just to spend time with my Dad. I met a number of people and then my dad introduced me to this nice guy who's there with his 12-year-old daughter. He told us that he and his daughter had the idea of doing something to help kids with anxiety and depression. I have no idea why I did this but…. I shared with them how I've struggled with anxiety and depression and how important it is to talk about it. He looked down at his daughter, and he said see you're not alone.
There was that moment before I shared my secret and that moment after. That day was my sliding glass door moment and I jumped into the arena of vulnerability. Then and there, I realized that there are so many people also struggling, and I had the opportunity to help.
That is when I discovered the anxiety expert, Cindy Lee. She and three colleagues spent years compiling the most effective tools to combat anxiety that they use with their patients. This became the foundation for the Anxiety Hacker Toolbox. I use these tools almost everyday and they have changed my life. I am not saying that I don’t get anxious moments or mind chatter, but I am no longer spiraling. I have more good days now than bad days.
That is why I am on a mission to share and get the word out. I am doing what I said I would never do. I am sharing my stories on podcasts, social media and when I meet people.I feel that being vulnerable and using these tools have given me the control back….
